ABC has leaped to the defense of Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, following the backlash of a plot on a recent episode of the drama series.
The FBI drama featured a storyline that revolved around Indian terrorists plotting an attack in Manhattan with the aim of blaming Pakistan for it.
shortly after the airing of Quantico Season 3 Episode 5, which aired June 1, there was a social media storm about the plot, with many wondering why Chopra, who is Indian, agreed to film the scenes.
“ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, ‘The Blood of Romeo,’ ” the network said in a statement on Friday.
“The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series."

“Quantico is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone.”
Quantico is currently airings its third and final season on the network. It was canceled last month after a revamp failed to prop up the ratings.
Quantico Season 3 is currently averaging 2.5 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49. The network recently shunned the series to Fridays to finish out its run, but the ratings have risen slightly.
