It looks like Roseanne could be returning to ABC without any involvement from Roseanne Barr.
TMZ is reporting that ABC is deep in negotiations to bring the series back for another iteration and that an announcement could be coming as early as this week.
The news is unsurprising when you consider the fact that Roseanne was the number scripted series on broadcast TV during the 2017-18 season.
ABC canceled Roseanne last Tuesday following Barr's racist tweet which compared Barack Obama's former senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” said Channing Dungey, the president of ABC last week when the news broke of the cancellation.

“Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!!-I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet," Barr said via Twitter reacting to the news.
Roseanne subsequently said that she was "Ambien tweeting" and appeared to imply that was the reason for her tweet.
"People of all races, religions, and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world," the Tweet from Sanfoni, the pharmaceutical company that produces the drug in the U.S. reads.

"I will say I’m proud of the show we made,” she continued.
“[Roseanne] has always been about diversity, love and inclusion, and it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision that ABC made.”
