Sooo close.
The good guys had both Anthony and Cleopatra in hand, for a few seconds anyway, before it all fell apart on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 11.
I hope Danny and Lexi are getting frequent-flyer miles because they end up going all over the world seeking answers.
Let's see, this episode alone they went to Rome, Venice, and some obscure island in the Bermuda Triangle.
Unfortunately, with a tracker placed on the plane they were using, someone was just a step behind them.
Was that Farouk's people, or the Brotherhood of Serapis, or maybe the person that's pulling everybody's strings?
We've got just two more episodes in which to sort out everything.
It was good to see Jay, Anna and Rick again, all very excited that Anthony had been recovered, at least for a time.

I have to say that John Larroquette and Alicia Coppola, two character actors who improve any show they are on, have been criminally underutilized thus far.
Jay had been a black card for Danny and Lexi while Anna was the damsel in distress. Surely, there is more they could be contributing to this search.
I guess that's just the curse of the big cast. Blood & Treasure has even had to rotate their rogues so that everyone gets a little screen time.

Danny and Lexi are the exceptions because eye candy always prevails.
What was also informative were the flashbacks detailing important stages of Jay and Danny's relationship.
Jay was there to help the struggling scholarship student from Dorchester with a much-needed pair of cufflinks.
When Danny was getting cashiered from the FBI after taking the blame for the botched Farouk operation that got Lexi's father killed, Jay was there to start him on the next phase of his career.
It's hard for me to square that compassionate Jay with the insinuation that he's the mastermind behind Farouk and all the violence that that terrorist has committed.
That includes the biological weapon that's out on the open seas now.
If it's not Jay, the clues certainly point to someone well placed within Jay's organization.
Anna seems, well, too much an absent-minded professor.
That leaves Rick, Jay's lieutenant. While he would certainly know where all the bodies are buried, I don't think he has the reach to be a mastermind.
It could even be someone who hasn't been yet introduced.
The truth will have to be revealed soon.
I have to give the powers that be credit for continuing to eliminate and introduce characters.
Gwen was attempting to track down Zara Farouk, whose name was written on a check that was among the documents she stole from Fabi's apartment.
Then there was the female ninja last seen harassing Danny and Lexi in Cuba on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 8.
This time out, she was beating the crap out of Gwen, which, frankly, I didn't think was possible. Then she stole the documents which Gwen had previously stolen.
Hopefully, Gwen scanned those documents and stored them someplace safe. Otherwise, the investigation which she had taken over from Fabi is over before it truly started.

It was a rough episode for Gwen. The Italian general told her that she was being recalled by Interpol and he didn't look shook up about that.
It was a good thing that Father Chuck helped change Gwen's way of thinking back on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 9.
She let the general know that she was going to continue to pursue her investigation, with or without official sanctions.
In other words, doing exactly what Danny and Lexi have been doing all season.
Although she later missed the ninja again after a badly executed raid, she did find a major clue -- one of the cufflinks which Jay gives to family and friends.
That was enough to get even Danny suspicious of his mentor.
And things had started so well, with Anthony in a secure facility, at least for a time.
So Danny and Lexi set off to find the drug lord who was last in possession of Cleopatra.
They cashed in some of the chits they'd accumulated with FBI Agent Harper, and he gave them what little he had about Everado Sanchez.
Sanchez disappeared mid-flight in 1993.
They tracked down Sanchez's daughter in Venice and were reunited with this episode's rogue, Aiden Shaw, who had been chillng in Norway since Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 7.
Shaw felt misused since he hadn't gotten a cut after Anthony was recovered.
He conned Danny and Lexi into taking him along to the obscure island inside the Bermuda Triangle where Sanchez was thought to be because, naturally, he had a contact there.
Shaw has contacts everywhere, some of whom are still speaking to him.
In short order, they found Sanchez's final resting place and Cleopatra, lost Cleopatra when their local guide turned on them, then found the guide dead and Cleopatra gone.
That's an awful lot of flying for the briefest glimpse of Cleopatra's sarcophagus.
Then the great debate began, over whether Farouk's people or the Brotherhood now had Cleopatra.

I vote for Option C, the man or woman behind the curtain.
That's likely also who has Anthony, who was, what, smuggled out through ancient, hidden spas? Wetness can't be good for mummies that old.
So what happens when Cleopatra and Anthony get back together? I guess we'll have to tune in and find out.

Is Jay the mastermind?
Who has Cleopatra and Anthony?
Who is Zara Farouk?
