What to Watch: Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover Begins, The Expanse, Marvel's Runaways & More!

It's finally time for Crisis on Infinite Earths to begin, and that means a bit of a schedule shuffle for The CW, so be sure to set your records appropriately.

Christmas programming reigns with a lot of familiar faces. You'll even find three stars from one of my favorite series from the past decade in festive fare even if they don't share screen time as Emily Rose, Lucas Bryan, and Colin Ferguson from Haven spread some cheer.

And on streaming, you'll find The Expanse and Marvel's Runaways. Read on for other surprises!

WTW December 8

Sunday, December 8

8/7c 2019 Miss Universe Pageant (FOX)

Hey, SOMEONE might be interested in watching this, right?

8/7c Christmas at Dollywood (Hallmark)

In our interview, Danica McKellar shared how her dream came true bringing together this festive holiday offering filmed on location at the Dollywood park!

Make sure to read the Dollywood movie interview for some background, and tune in for Dolly in all of her glory!

8/7c Grounded for Christmas (Lifetime)

When a winter storm hits Cleveland and grounds flights, the nearby hotels quickly fill up with stranded travelers. Nina (Julianna Guill from The Resident), a pilot, reluctantly agrees to let her arrogant but charming fellow pilot, Brady (Corey Sevier), stay at her nearby parents' home.

But when they discover her family is hosting a tree trimming party that night and that her ex will be there, Brady pretends to be her boyfriend to help her out. When the snowstorm continues, their ruse snowballs as Nina and Brady are stuck attending holiday events together.

But as Christmas nears, these two opposites begin to realize the best gift they could ever receive, is perhaps, each other. Grounded for Christmas is produced by MarVista Entertainment. Larry Grimaldi serves as executive producer.

8/7c Supergirl (The CW)

Harbinger is sent by The Monitor to gather Supergirl, The Flash, Green Arrow, Batwoman, White Canary, The Atom, and Supermen to prepare for the impending Crisis. Lena has to help J'onn and Alex find a way to save the people of Earth-38.

9/8c Time For You to Come Home for Christmas (HMM)

To be clear, a lot of the holiday movies are cookie-cutter affairs, and that's cool. But this one goes above and beyond with a deeper story that resonates beyond the garland and tinsel.

Ali Sweeney even chatted with us about what makes it special, so be sure to set your recorder.

Monday, December 9

8/7c Batwoman (The CW)

Airing on a special night to help ring in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Iris, Clark, and Lois look for a mysterious Kryptonian while the group seeks recruits to save the universe. Kate and Kara are on the hunt for Bruce Wayne.

Mia and Sara butt heads, Rory discovers a hidden talent, and Lex Luthor returns.

8/7c The Moodys (FOX)

The second night of this holiday event series begins tonight, and the final two episodes will air tomorrow night, so don't miss it!

Tuesday, December 10

8/7c The Conners (ABC)

Find out what "Santa on Santa Action" is all about and why it's the holiday tradition you'll be stealing from the Conners!

8/7c The Flash (The CW)

With Flash-90's intel, Pariah and Black Lightning are determined to stop the Anti-Monitor. Team Flash comes up with a potential plan while Oliver and Diggle revisit familiar territory. Iris talks with Ryan Choi.

Wednesday, December 11

9/8c Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements (HBO)

Directed by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-award winner Irene Taylor Brodsky (HBO’s Beware the Slenderman, The Final Inc, Hear and Now), Moonlight Sonata is a deeply personal memoir about a deaf boy growing up, his deaf grandfather growing old, and Ludwig van Beethoven the year he was blindsided by deafness and wrote his iconic sonata.

An intergenerational, inter-era tale of deafness, Moonlight Sonata explores what we discover when we push beyond loss.

10/9 Stumptown (ABC)

After a surprising end to their girls' night out, Liz and Dex find themselves closer than ever.

But how will Hoffman and Grey feel about their betrayals? Will Dex finally have to face the repercussions of her self destructive behavior? Watch the fall finale of Stumptown to find out.

Thursday, December 12

8/7c Superstore (NBC)

Cloud 9's union is official on Superstore's all-new holiday-themed episode. With Jonah off making negotiations, Amy is forced to stay behind and keep herself and the employees distracted. But just how far does her trust in Jonah go?

8/7c Supernatural (The CW)

The end is getting nearer as the boys must figure out a way to defeat Chuck, but as they make their plan, Adam makes a surprise appearance! Will he be a friend or foe? We'll find out on the fall finale before Supernatural moves to Mondays starting March 16.

9/8c Legacies (The CW)

It's Christmas in Mystic Falls, and fans will get to meet Santa Clause, Krampus, and other colorful characters. Given that the episode title is "This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent," there will likely be some crazy twists and turns, especially with it being the fall finale.

Friday, December 13

The Expanse (Amazon)

The first off-cable season of The Expanse begins. It's on my bucket list to plow through the available episodes this weekend to get you a full review. We do not doubt that Amazon will deliver on this one in spades because it's one of Jeff Bezos' favorites.

Marvel's Runaways (Hulu)

The final season of this Hulu drama begins today.

With every Marvel series that was airing getting either unceremoniously yanked or otherwise canceled, it's no surprise that we're saying goodbye to the Runaways, either.

8/7c Christmas Stars (Lifetime)

When aspiring R&B artist Layla (Erica Durance) crosses paths with amateur songwriter Spence (J.T. Hodges), she thinks she's found her shot at finally getting a record deal.

But as the holidays approach, the fast-paced, high stakes music business threatens to change their sound and relationship - especially when the label executives begin to see Spence as the real star.

Saturday, December 14

6/5c Matchmaker Christmas (Lifetime)

As the Christmas party for a book publishing company approaches, editor Maggie volunteers to help her boss Amanda find a date.

Matchmaking is a bit of a hobby for Maggie, but she is thrown off her game when Jaxson, her old boyfriend from her college years, shows up at her work—as a newly signed, successful author.

Maggie would love to deny she feels anything for him still, but Jaxson isn’t making it easy.

She’ll have to face her decisions of the past, along with Amanda eyeing Jaxson, to bring together the perfect matches at Christmas.

8/7c A Christmas Winter Song (Lifetime)

Clio befriends Fred, a homeless former jazz singer down on his luck. They form a special bond over music, and Clio, having just lost her own father, helps Fred reconnect with his own daughter, just in time for Christmas.

8/7c Christmas in Montana (HMM)

Hallmark favorites Kellie Martin and Colin Ferguson star in this holiday film about a woman named Sara who goes to Montana to help a resistant guy named Travis save his ranch.

We're betting on a Christmas miracle to save the day and the ranch. If you watch the video below, you'll see that this film is kind of special to Kellie. (And we're also betting that the Montana you're going to see is somewhere in Canada.)

8/7c Holiday Date (Hallmark)

Brooke is dumped right before Christmas and enlists the help of actor Joel to play the role of her boyfriend for the holidays. Brooke had described her ex-boyfriend as “Mr. Christmas” to her family and worries about keeping up the ruse when she discovers Joel is Jewish.

When her family eventually finds out his background, they happily incorporate his Hanukkah traditions into their plans. Christmas and Hanukkah are celebrated side by side as they all learn more about the other’s holiday.

But when their relationship ruse comes to light, the two have some explaining to do as well as figure out if they’re ready to admit their true feelings.

Starring Brittany Bristow and Matt Cohen (Supernatural), we'll be chatting with Brittany later in the week, so watch out for an interview. I'm excited because she's been in so many Hallmark movies, but this is one of her first leads.
